The DC/Baltimore area offers some of the finest music venues in the country but there are also an unlimited number of other entertainment options in both cities. MusicBox will be venturing out of the venues and into the vast array of "things to do" in our dual cities. Our first excusion in this new series of articles features the National Aquarium located in the Inner Harbor neighborhood of downtown Baltimore.

The National Aquarium is a popular attraction for tourists and residents alike. With over one million visitors per year we definately recommend that you arrive early to avoid long lines. An early start will also ensure that you get to all of the shows and exhibits. The National Aquarium offers a wide variety of exhibits featuring aquatic life from all over the planet, many in simulated natural habitats. Some of the highlights of our visit included the dolphin show and the rain forest exhibit. The dolphin show featured several dolphins showing off their fun loving nature while their trainers gave educational information about the dolphins and how they are trained. The rain forest exhibit is home to Golden Lion Tamarin monkeys, exotic birds and of course native water life including piranhas. One of the newest exhibits is the Northern Australia exhibit which features native fish, snakes, birds and even flying foxes! The aquarium covers a lot of territory so be sure to take a break and check out the 4D immersion theater offerings or one of several on site cafes. And don't forget to check out the gift shops which offer everything from inexpensive souveniers to unique gift ideas. So with sharks, dolphins, turtles, birds, monkeys and more the National Aquarium has it all and is definately a jewel in the Baltimore entertianment crown and a don't miss stop on any Inner Harbor visit.
